Dean's Digest

Dean's digest

Happy back to school month! In just a few weeks we welcome almost 5,500 new undergraduate and graduate students to W. P. Carey across all campuses. That’s a big number, and I am grateful to each of you for the hard work it takes to make that happen. Hopefully donuts will help sustain you — look for your start-of-semester box the morning of August 22. Save me a maple frosted one!

New school year, new program

The increasingly global nature of business necessitates equally global opportunities to learn. We are pleased to announce a redefined business language and culture degree for undergraduates, which combines our previous offerings to form a single degree with four distinct tracks — Chinese, Spanish, French, and Italian. Congratulations to the many folks who worked to get this program off the ground.

Lights, camera, training

As part of new faculty orientation on Tuesday, August 20, other faculty and staff members who might have a reason to speak to the media are invited to a media training seminar, run by our Marketing and Communications team. It’s a good overview of what to say and not to say, how much of the interaction with the media you actually control, and a look at some of our goals and initiatives, as well as the channels we use to promote the school, our research, and our programs. Sign up by this Friday, August 9 at noon to reserve your seat for the media training session on August 20 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Contact wpc.mediarelations@asu.edu for more information.
