offered. Every staff member is eligible for at least 24 hours of professional development training each year.

ASU's Emerging Supervisor Pathway: W. P. Carey
Cohort
Self-paced curriculum each semester; In-person capstone options in Tempe at the end of each semester

W. P. Carey has partnered with ASU's Emerging Supervisor Pathway (ESP) program to continue to bring a unique
leadership development experience to our future supervisors. ESP is a self-paced, semester-long training for
employees aspiring to become supervisors with no or limited prior supervisory experience. Participants learn
foundational ASU knowledge, practical skills, and resources to prepare them for a supervisor role. Completing the
program is equivalent to one year of supervisory experience and can be used for opportunities at ASU.
An
application link will be sent to those on the interest list before the semester begins. Applications will require a
short essay indicating your professional goals, why you want to supervise others, and what you hope to learn from
participation in the program. Approval from your supervisor is required to participate and W. P. Carey HR will pay the $100 fee. Additional information can

ASU's Supervisor Development Program
(SDP)
In-person curriculum offered over 6 days throughout each semester
Register your interest for the next cohort here.
The Supervisor Development Program (SDP) is an in-person experience for new and current supervisors of staff and
students at ASU. SDP provides participants with an opportunity to learn and practice the skills needed to develop an
effective team, manage optimal performance, and maintain a positive work culture committed to excellence, access,
and impact.
Approval from your supervisor is required to participate and your department will need to pay the
$750 fee. Additional information can be found online here.
