W. P. Carey Convocation

Get involved

In line with the university’s decision to move commencement and convocation to online, virtual ceremonies, the W. P. Carey convocation ceremony will post live on May 11, 2020 at 9 a.m. MST* on YouTube. This one ceremony is for both undergraduate and graduate students. While this convocation will look different than ones we have in the past, it is still fundamentally about celebrating the fantastic accomplishments of our graduating students. Don't worry if you can't make it at 9 a.m. sharp. You will be able to access the videos on demand.

Give a Carey ConGRADS

Want to share your congratulations with our students?  Or share your love for a particular class? Padlet is an online bulletin board where we are collecting messages of celebration, thanks, and shared memories for our graduates. You can create an account for free, or post as a guest by hitting the plus sign at the bottom, right of the screen. It’s easy to attach pictures, gifs, or even add a song. If you don’t create an account, make sure to still sign your name. We will be collecting posts on the board from now through graduation. Post a Carey ConGRADS!

Tune in for convocation

The W. P. Carey convocation will be live on Monday, May 11 beginning at 9 a.m. on YouTube. You can also share your social media posts for convocation using #WPCgraduation and #ASUgrad.

Convocation is pre-recorded, but will feature greetings from President Crow, Amy’s speech, the W. P. Carey Outstanding Graduating Students, a recitation of the Carey Code from honored alumni John Sizer and Michelle Cirocco, and favorite memories from our graduates.

Keep the celebration going at Club Carey

Club Carey is a virtual dance party we are hosting Tuesday, May 12 at 6 p.m MST*. There are a couple ways you can help make sure the party’s kickin’...

  • Pre-record a video where you are congratulating students, dancing in regalia, or another festive scene for showcasing on Club Carey (and YouTube) and either upload it here or email to wpcareyalumni@asu.edu by May 4.

  • Two ways to attend the event:

    • Via Facebook: The event will be streamed live on our W. P. Carey Facebook page. This is the coolest way to join, as you can send comments and shout outs via the live FB feed, seen by all the participants.

    • Via our website: We will also carry the live event through the Club Carey page of our website. But this is just for viewing, and there is no way to post in the live event via this viewing option.

Thank you for helping make convocation special for our graduates despite the difficult circumstances. If you have questions about convocation, Club Carey, or how else you can be involved, email convocation.wpcarey@asu.edu.
